Since I am on AS, any tests that help predict what type of PCa I have is of particular interest to me. I have been disappointed with several new test announcements in the past, the latest being PHI, but this one looks promising.

My wife utilized OncotypeDX testing two years ago with her breast cancer. Basically, the study determined a probability of recurrance within seven years and then recalculated the same factor based on different chemotherapy routines. The oncologists used it to determine whether chemo should be used and, if so, to determine the most effective routine. In my wife's case the probability of return was greater than 25%, thus chemo was prescribed.
Genomics also does this for colon cancer and has announced that early this year they will start doing the assay on prostate cancer biopsy specimens. Thus it doesn't take the place of PSA. The clinical trials were performed with The University of San Francisco a noteworthy PCa treatment center headed by the well regarded Dr. Peter Carroll.
It will be interesting to see what relevant information this test will provide that isn't already available from Bostwick or Bonkhoff.

Thanks JNF. I am just now made aware of the Myraid Polaris test. Pretty interesting, cost about
$3,400, don't know if my insurance will pay for it or not. See its claim below from cancer survivors network.
