Do you think treatments are becoming over prescribed?

I'm going to warn you that there will be no good end to such a question, as there are too many with very diverse opinions. You'll hear about conspiracies of all sorts.

Just so you'll know what happened when it goes off the rails.

But be sure that a doctor will prescribe a treatment if he believes it will help you. Getting insurance to pay? Well, that can be a challenge even for accepted FDA treatments.

I guess that is my conundrum, by all the new treatments available to lengthen ones life, there becomes the question of the quality of life. I know it is a personal choice also, but a difficult choice as well.

My husband is where none of us what to be, making that decision..continuing the next one and the next one, each only lasting 8 weeks at best. Actually last three 2 weeks shorter with each treatment. This one radium 223, maybe 2 injections, then do we consider xl184, not approved for prostate cancer, therefore not covered by insurance. At a cost of maybe 4 or 5 K, or Jevtana, approved and covered , with what reads to be the worst side effects for my husband. Do you do nothing? Quality of life according to my husbands onco will be terrible, in more pain than we can imagine if we do no treatments at all. That's the question we are asking ourself, and need to ask each other. So very hard, how do we make this decision?

I have wanted my husband to try Emcyt so will discuss this with Oncol. next. although he had 1 met. to spine.

He is now on Avodart as a maintence after taking holday from HT.
