Turmeric as a cure.

Curcumin (turmeric) is one of those things that looks great on paper and in lab studies, but doesn't seem to measure up in actual use. The problem is tissue bioavailability. Even with bioperine (pepper) and an oil base to increase absorption through the gut wall, it still doesn't seem to make it to the prostate because it is first-pass metabolized away so quickly, even when it makes it into the bloodstream. But scientists are finagling with the curcumin molecule to prevent its rapid metabolism.

The one I'm watching is known as ASC-J9 or the similar dimethoxycurcumin. In mice, it potently degraded the androgen receptor (it's being looked at to cure baldness and acne too). They are also attaching curcumin to liposomes and nanoparticles that may increase the amount of drug delivered to tissues.

i got married in India. at one of the traditional functions they spread turmeric all over my face. the only thing i got out of it was that i looked like i had jaundice. My wife makes me gargle turmeric when i have a sore throat, tastes vile.

I've not heard of tumeric but I understand there is supposed to be some evidence that dandelion root has seen some success.

Am I the only one having credibility issues with this thread? I think someone left the cellar door unlocked and the salesmen got in.

I think that when we talk about Pom or tumeric what we do know for a fact is that they don't hurt you. So taking them isn't a bad thing.

I don't take them but my wife treats all sorts of ailments with pills from India made up from natural stuff. She believes in their efficiency and half the battle is believing in something when treating any obstacle of any sort.
