Now they are say there's overscreening for Colon Cancer

I read that article too David. I find these new recommendations disturbing.
My opinion, instead of trying to prolong life, it seems they just want you dead sooner. :-(

Both your statements are true, Steve. I learned this too late last year, when I had my first colon test at age 60. If detected early, generally very curable. But generally slow moving (some exceptions of course).

If I hadn't insisted on my wife get a colonoscopy when she was 48, she would not have been alive today. they found what they call "flat" polyp which develops into cancer more rapidly and is more aggressive, the internist said if she would have waited another year, it most likely would have been too late.

But I don't think they are saying colon cancer develops slowly, they are saying that it takes time for that polyp to develop into cancer. I have had 2 colonoscopies and they have removed polyps on both occasions 5 years apart. Our internist recommends his patients get them every 5 years, and so far the insurance co. is going along with that time frame.

Hard to believe they would recommend that no one get a psa test, what are we suppose to do, wait until symptoms occur when it's most likely too late.

montee - that is the scary part. that's why in the pre-psa days, so many men that were diagnosed, were diagnosed with advanced PC. so how could not testing help?

the way the "other side" is pushing this new anti screening/testing message, it reminds me of an old adage. if you tell the same lie enough times to enough people, it soon becomes the truth.

I had two polyps removed 8-10 and my dr. is telling me every 3 year's when you had polyps and every 5 when nothing is found. I am having my colonospy 7-13.
