OK-- when do the Lupron SE kick in?

I started Casodex 2+ weeks ago and just before asked about those SE.

I have to report that those SE have been almost non-existent (a little bit of itching here and there and some breast sensitivity that seems to occur for VERY brief periods of time). I'm sure more SE will occur from that drug.

So, today I did the major part of this HT: the Lupron shot.

OK, my butt stings and hurts a bit and maybe it will hurt for a few more days.

But I've been told to expect hot flashes and other wonderful goodies. The doctor was very vague about the timing, and I guess it varies greatly.

Soooo... I'd like to ask those of you on this combo. When should I expect the SE. My guess is not for at least a week and probably 2 weeks.

When I got my first shot I chatted with the nurse while she was getting it ready. She said that most men don't notice many side effects before they get their second three-month shot. I am eight months in and no hot flashes so far for me, which I gather is unusual.

The side effects I've noticed so far are: 1) all the expected sexual SEs, 2) my beard grows really slowly and is kinda patchy, 3) I get more muscle cramps than I used to, 4) I am losing my body hair, 5) at about four months I became quite depressed, 6) I have the attention span of a gerbil on crack cocaine.

you'll know when you show up to work in drag .  seriously you are probably going to go through a phase where you believe that you escaped most SEs and you'll say "this ain't so bad".  then they start .

It's not a matter of "focus" with the gerbil, it's the shutter speed. You have to use a really fast shutter to catch anything but a blur. I am as sharp as ever... I think... last time I was sure where my brain was at... Yes, definitely sharp as a tack... wherever it went.

I had most of the SE but they came on at different times and diff. degrees of pain. For example, my major depression did not come on until 12 months into the process.

My husband noticed gradulally increasing side effects after about a monthafter his first shot.  He recently got to his total frustration point with them (3-4 hot flashes an hour during the day - each lasting 5-10 min. and major night sweats, plus some joint aches) and the doctor prescribed Megestrol.  It seems to be starting to help.  He gets his second Lupron shot in the middle of next month.
