TFT 5 Years after

It's been 5 years since my 3D saturation mapping biopsy which I use as start date of my treatment. Last year I went from semiannual to annual checkups. All is still fine as
my last four PSA'a have been :

.22- 8/2010
.15 -3/2011
.14 -2/2012

.18 -3/2013

I have a functioning prostate, no side effects other than maybe a 60% loss of ejaculant volume. In
fact my worse PCa ordeal other than initial anxiety was a total of 5 days with a catheter back in 2008.

I wonder why TFT isn't more available in other areas? So far there's been two of us here who had TFT and another who posted a few weeks ago he was coming out to Denver for it, but I haven't seen any more posts from him. I read your update Dave, you just can't ever catch a break. You keep on keeping on admirably, better than I would.

I have an old friend from work who was in a terrible car accident on I-80 up in Wyoming in a blizzard 10 years ago. He was thrown from the vehicle after an 18 wheeler drove into him and only due to it being winter time did he manage to survive after finally finding him. Hypothermia saved him. His life has become increasingly worse since then. He tells me he's in pain all day long in spite of high dosage of pain pills. He now rarely answers the phone and lays on the couch in pain all day. I just mention him because like you I don't know what to say anymore to try to be supportive. He was one of the early friends I told about my Pca dx. Even though he was much better then it helped me to put my Pca in perspective and maybe one of the reasons I never panicked and screamed get it out of me from an OR table 6 weeks later.

If anyone reads of my experience if nothing else realize that after dx is not a time to panic or be overwhelmed by self pity. This is still a disease most will die with and not of. Spend time learning all options and possible side effects. There are no radical treatment do overs.

ziggy, I would love to catch a break, but doesn't seem to be in the cards for me, so I just keep trucking along, not really any alternative to living, not quite ready to give it up to the grim reaper yet, lol.

I agree with you about the "panic" part many men feel after their pc dx. no need for that. having dealt with 3 serious cancer bouts in the years prior to my pc dx, kind of was long past the point of being afraid of the cancer word, at least for me. my mistake, was I thought I would have my surgery, get cured, and move on with my life. little did I know, that for me, my pc dx would be a life changing event, one that is still going on.

Ziggy, congratulations on your CONTINUING great results.  TFT makes a lot of sense and it is also astounding to me that it has not blossomed as a main stream treatment.  Movement away from a "standard" is tough sledding I guess but I digress....mainly I just want to wish you the best and a lifetime of low numbers.
