Hi
My husband was diagnose in Late december with prostate cancer it had spread to one lymph node 3+4. Psa 48. He
has just had his second Zoladox injections and will be having radiotherapy starting next month his psa dropped in February to 4.75 it has now dropped to 2.14. My husband is a little disappointed it hasn't gone lower Does anyone know if it should have gone lower by now. Obviously I appreciate you are not Doctors but i wondered what people's experiences were. thanks so much

Sounds like progress to me. My PSA dropped to <0.1 in three months, but from only 5.2 as a post-op/rt high. So I would say he is reacting well.

First off remember down is always good. Sometimes it can take months for some guys PSAs to drop to undectatable

so I wouldn't worry at this point......you could end up with a nice drop next go round.

sounds like a huge drop from 48 to now, don't think I would be disapointed with it. and hopefully, the radiation will have an easier job of finishing off the cancer.

Actually it was 4+3 Gleason 7

Thanks for your replies. We are awaiting results of second MRI before Radiotherapy begins just hope it doesn't reveal anything different to the first.

i hope this does not discourage you. Within 3 to 6 months the goal of HT is to get PSA to .05 and maintain for at least three months. The real test will come several months after radiation. Your husband should be seeing a medical oncologist specializing in PC as they know how to monitor HT and adjust meds to get both PSA and testosterone down. It seems that many doctors just give a shot of HT without the adjustments necessary to get the best response.
