My PSA today is 0.1. Not <0.1, but 0.1. Doc said it might be measurement resolution and to check in another 6 months. He also said if it had been 0.2 he would recommend radiation.

Kind of bummed. 6 months of uncertainty.

White bird, you are in the Gleason 8 zone with me. PSA tests can sometime fluctuate a little or even be erroneous. The 6 months retest does seem a bit long, may be you should retest in 3 months instead. I once had a PSA test that came in at .09 while all my previous and following tests were at <.004. I had to endure a month of anxiety before I retested. Take a deep breath and hope for a better result.

For six months just go with the "back ground noise/lab problem" thought. You can panic if the next one comes in bad.

Still it's natural to have a little worry with something like that.

I would be ok with the 6 month window to the next test. If it still going up, probably dealing with true recurrence, time to go to Plan B at that point. Good luck.

I recenlty had a very worrisome PSA test result. But, in the end, it was simply "bad data" and retest was fine. See my post on this "worrisome test result".
I hope you have the same experience. Either way, chin up, you can beat this beast still.

White bird: There are a few things that you could do in the mean time. Simply have another STANDARD test (even if you have to pay for it out of your own pocket) in 6 -8 weeks. Or you could simply ask for the ultrasensitive test which will measure to hundreths (0.00). The ultrasensitive test will certainly give you more information, however, some of this extra information may create more worry for you. You could also follow your doctors recommendation and test again in 6 months. All of these choices are just fine however, what you ultimately decide has more to do with your own mental attitude /personality and "how much you want to know". I am the type of person who wants to know all of the facts today so I went (and continue to go with) the ultrasensitive test. Many folks here simply use the standard test that measures/ reports to the nearest tenth (0.0). It is really your call and we all wish you good luck.
