Definition of "blathering": lengthy writing by someone with whom I disagree.
Definition of "thoughtful advocacy": lengthy argument by someone with whom I agree.
Just joking.
But, in the end, it's all support, with views that cover the entire spectrum of opinion on various issues. So, it's the "big tent" for me.
F. Scott Fitzgerald is quoted as having said, "The test of a first rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in the mind at the same time, and still retrain the ability to function."
That implies, I think, that we should be able to vehemently disagree with someone and still understand and respect their thoughts on the subject.
However, one aspect of all this that bothers me is that if we were to create an advocacy section here on HW, we have really altered the nature of the site. At the current time, for examgle, there's an obvious split in thinking on certain trends in the prostate cancer "world." It's quite possible that an advocacy section would result in HealingWell taking "official" positions with which large numbers of members might not identify. That might not be the intention, and it might not even be true, but that's the way it certainly might be perceived.
