I received this email and wanted to share it with all of you who offered up your names to make the engraved keepsake plaque possible.

Hi MsWW, (changed from my real name)

I'm so sorry this note is late. My family is floored at the beautiful engraving you put together to honor Dad. What a treasure and so very, very thoughtful. Thank you 100x :) :)

It's still hard for us and the tears go away only to come back. It's still hard to believe that he is really gone. My charismatic, a smile larger than life Rad Dad...

Thanks again for your sweet thoughts and beautiful actions.

Very touching words, Ms., thanks for sharing, and glad I was able to be a small part of it.

It's funny, less than 15 minutes before seeing this thread, I just happened to think about him myself, he just kind of popped into my head.

I think of Bud almost every day and still miss him on this forum.
This sounds like a wonderful way to honor him and his memory.

The plaque contains personally identifying information for several members and the forum rules would prohibit posting images or links to images here.

Ms. WW, thank you for sharing this with us. Please assure Bud's family that he lives on in all of us whose lives he has touched, and that they continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.

Another great post from the heart, MsWW. Hardly a day goes bye that I do not think of our great buddy Raddad. I can imagine how the family feels because there is still a place in my heart that aches for my buddy and always will. I am so proud to have been part of all of the tributes to him and how much our HW family opened their hearts and pockets for the memorials for our Raddad. Raddad was one of those people you meet in your life that leaves a permanent impression on your life and you never forget them.

I was cleaning up my email just the other day, deleting old messages no longer having any value, when I came across the emails that Bud and I had exchanged a while back on a few topics.

Did I delete those Bud emails as part of my clean-up?

Absolutely not. I moved them into a special folder where I will keep them, well, indefinitely.

I plan to re-read them every now and then whenever I feel I need a lift. Bud's power to uplift was so great, his words can do that for us even now.

It would be inappropriate to share the information on the plaque with anyone outside the group, as there are "real" names on it. That would violate our anonymity even if shared offline. If the information were somehow put on line, some people's jobs would be at risk.

Thanks for the kind words. I, too, have kept all of Bud's emails and read through them when I need calming words.

When this was done, people who participated knew this would remain anonymous, as people trusted me with the use of their real names.

Even the Raddad family was asked to not post any pictures of the plaque.

Please be content in the thought that it was both touching and beautiful to them, and that our goal was accomplished

Understood. Forgot the rules and wishes for a bit.

I just closed my eyes and envisioned how great it looks, how the family appreciated it, and how cool of a place HW is.

So often I think of our Bud. I miss the calls and that wacky laugh of his. Like Terry and so many of us there is an empty spot in my heart.

I too had him come to mind when just posting about giving up the goal of seeing our granddaughter graduate from West Point in 2014 - in the past he'd always reinforce our goal and say not to give up. Makes me think how Bud is not going to get to dance at Gigi's wedding. He's in a better place, per him; but you know at times that's hard to remember for those still here.

Gigi, should they let us know about her wedding, will have a bunch of really old guys in the back row. I doubt I'll still be around in 18+ years, but 2014, that seems a bit more likely.

This thread makes me misty-eyed as I often get when thinking about Bud.  I often wonder if he knew how much he was loved by so many people.  Thank you Mrs. WW.
