Jitters, A late HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hoping it wasn't too hard. "They" say the 1sts are the hardest. I hope "they" are right! I do hope you had some times of happiness!
Passages, how did the weekend go? Thought and prayed for you and your loved ones. Am sure everyone is exhausted today, but am praying it is a good exhaustion.
Dreamer44, hope things are going well. It seems you have been hit extra hard. WOW!
Mandy, sounds like the crash into the cliff and the cough are crazy! Hoping all is well with your sweetie real soon!
To all the Warrior ladies, hoping and praying we have a good week with our care taking, jobs, babysitting and everything else.
My husband had his bone scan on Wednesday. They said we would hear from the doctor by Friday, but haven't heard anything yet. They did take a couple extra x rays, could have been to look at the previous spot, or could be something new. Hopefully the doctor will call today. We could call, but my husband goes with the thought, "No news is good news!" I keep reminding myself that I agreed to let him make the decisions with this! It is not often easy!

smo1, how do you keep from calling...stronger than me. I was or am a control freak. Actually when they did Jim's MRI, I pushed my way in and watched everyone of them. My daughters thought I was crazy wanting to see the cancer, but I wanted no surprises with phone calls or at the next visit. Just happy the nurses didn't kick me out. Your right it's not easy. Thank you for the birthday wishes. I hand some very sad hard moments, but overall I just kept busy outside and had a very nice dinner with my kids. Not looking forward to the many more firsts to come. Jim's birthday is coming late Sept. planning a appreciation party for my friends here in CT to thank them for their support. It will be hard but good memories with good friends. I had my final medical test today, an endoscopy. They took the standard biopsies of some areas. Found several stomach ulcers, imagine that stress and ulcers???? Final results by Thursday. But I already know I need to learn to care for me now, that's what Jim would want. Find some ways to relieve the stress caregiving created over the last few years. Journal and find a support group I can go to, and learn to meditate. So I do have some plans for myself to heal. Praying everyone here finds something to comfort themselves too during their journey.
And to top off my morning today...someone found a way to send flowers to someone and buy new computer software both online using my bank account on my birthday....stress...geez when does it end.
Passages...are things okay???

Friends,
Mike won his race and is in a better place. He passed early Saturday morning just as the private plan landed to get me back. Made ring ceremony. He was fine when I left. The biggest hurt almost has been to get West Point to allow her to come home. It's been an awful battle. She was already dealing first with the knowledge that he wouldn't be at graduation and then telling her Wednesday that he couldn't be at the ring ceremony. She is her hero.
Will be thinking of all of you and will check in next week and try to catch up. Have missed you all.

Passages...I heart is heavy as my tears fall for you and your family. Mike is in a better place healing and watching over his family, but the grief is so hard to bear...then to battle with West Point...why why why.
So happy you made the ceremony and Asia knows her Dad was with her in spirit and soul. I will keep you and your family in my prayers for the next days will present you with new adjustments to your expectations.
May god bless you and bring you the strength you need. Know you are loved and supported here.

Passages, I am sad for you but he is now at peace at long last. I write those words, really knowing what they mean. You have yet another normal to adjust to, another new path.
I hold you in my thoughts and heart right now. I hope like Jitters you do come back and check in and let us know how you are doing. You've been on my path; someday I will be on yours.
Take care of yourself. I hope all is worked out for Asia.

So sorry for your loss. I'm sure Asia knows how important she is to him and how proud he is.

Passages, so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. He is at peace now after fighting such a courageous battle. May you find peace in knowing you gave him such support and love. It will take time but you will take comfort in knowing he will always be with you and is no longer in pain. Hold your family close, grieve, smile at all the good memories, let the tears come. It does get easier.

Passages, so sorry for your loss. You and your family were on my mind so often over the weekend, but not for this reason. I want you to know you will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. Please check in with us and let us know how you and your family are doing. We all grieve along side of you. Hoping Asia is home, so glad you were able to get those special pictures. They will be a forever treasure!
Take care, and sending a big hug!

Today felt like the same day Jim passed away, so difficult and cried all day, never really slept last night. So many stressfull situations but the good news is I think I have found a support group I can start very soon and one I can go to when I go to Vegas in Oct and Nov. I even went to yoga tonight with my daughter and shed only a few tears. Things might just be looking up. And birthday flowers from my sister.

So many to hold in my heart now.
So many to still give me strength for each day because I really don't feel alone.
The days are never the same - some up, some down, and I never know which until I am done.
More pain yesterday - what's with that? We will need to address before the weekend for sure if continues.
Our cleaning person came yesterday and greeted him as she has - how are you doing? feeling better yet? so he had her sit down and he told her what was going on. I don't think he thinks he will ever feel better.
My brother called him the other day. he is the one who lost his wife to pancreatic cancer. Called just to share a few moments with my husband. I guess they both got emotional. My brother emails me often.
I can't believe it is almost September.
I am so grateful for this new job - it is keeping me going.
Jitters, Passages, Silverlace, thinking of you. tedsnal, smo1, dreamer, you too.

Thinking of the warrior ladies today. Headed to bank to resolve issues and then digging my hands in the earth for a great day of mulching..love to see the end result.
Also found a support group, already know its going to help and found one in Vegas for my daughter and I to attend while I am there.I am determined to heal and take better care of myself.

Passages,
Please accept my condolences and be proud that you provided your "Colonel Mike" with all the love and care possible. You both fought the battle until the end in your home and basically he died "with his boots on"; the way that he would have wanted! No recriminations ever. Godspeed.

Passages,
I had admired your leadership and compassion in this group of women who are dealing with life altering changes. How sad to learn that your husband has gone, but still not seeing the pain will give you some peace.

For whatever reason, yesterday in my mailbox was a package from Janssen, makers of Zytiga. Info packet on using the med and a large paperback book called Winning the Battle Against Prostate Cancer. After crying a few minutes, then getting angry, I finally laughed. Geez I had requested this material as long ago as Dec12, heck I can't even remember when Jim was started on the drug. But my reason for posting is does anyone want me to mail you the book, kinda hate to dispose of it. Free for the asking...

Jitters, I had a few of those jolts when my first husband died. Just when you think you can get through the day without crying, you get an unexpected reality check. I had a call from Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, a major cancer centre, a few weeks after he died, wanting to book a follow up appointment and I had to explain he was not coming back, not sure why they didnèt know. It starts the cycle of grief all over again.

tednsal,
How are you doing on Xtandi. My father is set to begin in about
4 weeks. Can you share about
the side effects and how you offset them? His Dr does not want to lower the dose should they set in and says he would stop it when/if the fatigue hit. Looking for some clues etc..

PreacherMan12......only noticable SE husband has had is swelling in the right foot & ankle & both wrists. Has not had any other SE. If U scan this site, U will C some others have experienced nausea, constapation, bone pain, etc. He takes his dose (4 pills) in the morning while eating a full breakfast (eggs, fruit, juice, bacon/sausage, biscuits/toast). He also has a monthly injection of Xgeva & every 3 months a Trelstar injection (HT). As U can C from the signature, our jouney since 1999 diagnosis.
Several folks have not experienced positive results with this treatment.......Zitiga has been more benefitical for them. Husbands PSA is climbing, CT scheduled on the 11th. Treatment regime may change, will wait to see results if CT on the 19th.
Good Luck.....
