Zytiga or abiraterone now in use for PCa patients has some things to be aware of like eating of food and timing of such along with your doseage. Recommended is 2 hours prior or 1 hour after taking your pill, and not in conjunction with food and drug taken, as that may increase drug doseage 'effect' by 5 to 10 times its normal doseage usefulness and could cause additional side effects to the patient(s). Herein find some weblinks and arguements on this, a clinical trial is on, mentions maybe saving money and using food and lesser amounts of the drug to achieve simiar results in patients and saving amount of pills used and money....which might be important for the patients.
Normally you take your pills 4x times a day and once a day use prednisone or maybe dexamethasone, etc. Prednisone is usually taken at 5 mg per day (once), if dexamethasone was used then likely .75 (cut pill) or 1 mg (equals 6.6 of prednisone) would be close to similar useage. Taking these 4 times a day can make sleeping and planning things a little hassle, so if we could take it lesser or maybe once a day that could be interesting. The doseage of Zytiga is 250 mg. pills, kind of large too and fun to swallow. Seems this drug is 10 times more potent or 'better' than Ketoconazole, which a while back Dr. Myers was saying he didn't know if it were any better or not. So if you fail on Keto doesn't mean Zytiga would fail psa control, atleast for awhile. Evidence seems to show it may give control of psa and even reduce pain levels, for maybe 6 months (perhaps an averages thing as mentioned in some Journal info articles).
Anybody ever tried eating food along with the drug or tried using less doseages and food in conjunction with using this? Is so, eleaborate on any details and your experience for the benefit of sharing that for others.
I just read that pain levels can be lessened with using this drug. Well I had some back pains that were getting pretty nasty and after using this drug for a short time, like 7 days or so I notice back pains almost gone and much better. I presume it is from this drug after reading such info (see weblinks herein). I am awaiting my psa results after using this for like 10 days and see results thereafter. So, far the side effects are not to noticeable, except for some leg pain that comes and goes (when walking it is noticed) and that is listed on side effect issues.
