Ralf, i did say I was not offended, and totally understood your post. Leave the straw man for OZ. " "Criticism" can be a learning experience if you let it….. I know an intelligent man like you knows that instinctively, any sarcasm is between your ears, not from my lips. WORD

If we're still here, we are surviving one day at a time. Another day above the sod.

If you like the label, use it. If you don't like the label, don't use it.

People can call me whatever they wish. I've never really felt that comfortable drawing attention to myself, so I don't get too involved taking up labels.

Andrew this is a really good thread. I have not read all the posts but I have read enough.
The year I was diagnosed I got the call in June. 2 months later I walked my first survivor lap. It was also my last survivor lap. I walk the Luminary lap. I like what it stands for. I like it when the word hope turns to the word cure. This year as all others my band will play and I will wear my Survivor shirt from my first relay 7 years ago. Even after 7 years of H/T it still fits. This year I will be the speaker before the luminary lap. The word survivor to me signifies finality. My battle is ongoing and I am surviving until I no longer can. If seven survivor shirts give others hope I will proudly wear them however I am still waiting for the word hope to go out and the word cure to burn forever. Todd

..I am surviving, yes for now..
..surviver seems more for the free and clear, out of harms way..
..As for a definitive answer and doing laps, I say if you are living any which way after or during dealing with PAc go for a lap and show support, give inspiration cause tomorrow someone else joins us who yesterday never thought they would and needs it..

I'm not sure what to make of "survivor," "fighting" cancer etc. To me it's just life, and I'm glad to be here to to be part of it. I've lost friends who went through much worse than I have so far, from a lot of things other than cancer--car crashes, war, murder, heart attacks, fire. I'm happy every day that I'm a living thing with a functioning brain. I'm just really glad to be here, while I'm here. Or as George Burns used to say, "At my age I'm happy to be anywhere." There will be millennia to come when what's left of me, I suppose, will be not so self-aware.
