Hi team ,
For the life of me I do not recall what the nurse said about removing my tape strips covering my incisions.
For the drain I do remember she did say remove the gauze and let it breath.

My experience was to let the tape naturally dissolve. Do not help or hinder. I find this advice helpful in a lot of life's mysteries, not all, but still……..

I did have an additional s/e of infected pratt drain 4-5 days post op, resolved with antibiotics.

I was told that the clear plastic sticky film over my dressings would be waterproof enough for a careful shower and as long as they stayed dry not to mess with them. That worked for all but the big dressing over my navel. They didn't quite shave widely enough and the top edge of the plastic covering was stuck to fur not skin and tended to leak. I replaced that dressing several times when it filled up with water.

My doc said not to touch the strips, but to let them fall off on their own. It will be 3 weeks tomorrow, and I still have a few hanging on...

Yep, butterfly bandage tapes right over incisions were to remain on til they fell off by themselves.  In shower, don't scrub, after shower pat dry.  If you have tape and gauze over any of them, you remove and replace that.

Follow up with doc or nurse to make sure what they want you to do.
