 25 Days today and I'm not real sure so will ask is this normal or am I just complaining?

I am fortunate I thought to not need a pad after the first day or so I guess? but still sometimes think I leak a tiny bit between showers.

My scrotum is still painfully large always thinking I'm going to sit on it!

My penis is still like that of a 3 year old boy.

I have had hemorrhoids since surgery (painfull kind)

Constipation? Oh yea that too even after softeners, fiber, and the whole bit.

I look like I ate an entire water melon, I can't even fasten my shorts!

Tired constantly requiring daily naps.

And lastly stressed out knowing my PSA will be up when I take my first test.

Hello and welcome to HW PC.

So you are little over 4 weeks out of surgery, most of what you mention is in the realm of normal, it should get better by the days ahead.

You are doing great on the incontinence part, many surgery guys would love to trade places with you.

The enlarged "sac" seems to be a common complaint, though I never had that as an issue after my open surgery.

Did you have hemorrhoids before surgery? Or only developed them since? I never had any before or after, so not sure how to address that part.

Constipation, make sure you are staying very hydrated. Don't deprive yourself plenty of water, thinking that I might help you stay dry. It would be better to leak a little, then to be dehydrated

The fatigue part is normal for most, that should improve too, soon.

That first post-surgery PSA test is critical, try not to worry, keep working on your recovery.

Your body has just been through a mega complex surgery, give yourself plenty of time to heal in all these areas. Things should get better for you.

Thanks, No I had no hemorrhoids in the past, this was almost immediately after surgery. I still haven't picked up a copy of my path report but was told I am now a T3B with invasion outside the bed so unless I'm wrong that's bad and will probably give me a PSA I don't like. Still learning. Hydrated? yes lots of water and still coffee twice a day. I am urinating 3-4 time nightly (bummer) I thought that would subside and about every 2 hours douring the day. Only a great stream now.

Invasion out side the bed as prostate bed or outside the prostate. Outside the bed could mean systemic and arguably not " curable ". Outside the prostate would mean local and still "curable" Words mean something. How come you you do not have a copy of you path report, when the information is out there for you to read. If it is fear, that will not help in the journey ahead. If it is non chalance, you could{ operative word ,could } be easily led to places you may not want to go. Just my take, Grumpenstein. If you could and have the inclination, would you create a signature, following the lead of others that you will see under their post. It is not a requirement , it just helps us help you. Detailed information from post op pathology would be an example of the kind of info in the signature , as well as age. T3b may mean systemic, I am not up on the stage classifications, It is treatable and keep you around for a long time

Like logo said...I wouldn't suggesting waiting around for your path report. Get it and understand it so you can get prepared for the future. People here can help with the interpretation.

And while you are at it, ask for your surgical notes to, you are entitled to them as well. I found the details about the difficulties encountered in my open surgery only from the surgical notes. The surgeon told my wife at the time, that he had a few problems, but got through them. The surgical notes went into detail, and I learned a lot from them.

Thanks, I was going to get all my information last Friday and couldn't get in town, but will this week. The day I visited and spoke with my Doctor I was focused on his speech throwing me off guard and my information was for some reason my last thought. I'm learning.

Do yourself a favor and make notes of all your questions. I always still, take my wife along with me because let's face it, women have more questions than men do!
As far as your scrotum, while I had my catheter in, mine looked like Jabba The Hut with a silly straw!!!!! It'll get better.

Grump,

I was pretty worn out right up until week 5, then it seemed to get better overnight. I started to feel more normal again right about the 5 week mark.

Penis is coming out of hiding now and starting to get back to about pre op size when flaccid.

I stopped colace and switched to prunes and make sure I eat enough veggies. That got me back to normal for bowel movements.

Like everybody else has said, you had surgery, give it time to heal. Unfortunately, those who have not done this think it's like getting your tonsils out and then you just spring back to normal.

Yeah, we all wish it was that easy.
