2nd PSA Reading after IMRT + Lupron

We're feeling pretty good here at our house.

My husband competed IMRT (plus a 6-month Lupron shot) in October 2012 at Duke. His first PSA screening was three months after treatment (January 2013) and was <.01. Just last week we returned to Duke for the second post-treatment PSA, and it came in at .01. Dr. Lee was very, very pleased, and I decided not to quibble for now about the loss of the "<"

Husband's testosterone is still on the low side at 178 but increasing sufficiently for now.

I am most thankful for two things in my life right now: my husband's good prognosis and this Board, which gave me the ammunition needed for this fight and calmed me down when I freaked out.

I'm hoping I have my "Signature" completed correctly and info will show up below.

I love success stories. I wish you and your husband a long life with no more "high anxiety". I appreciate you keeping us I formed and you are right about this forum--many caring people here!! CONGRATS.

This forum is the answer to anxiety, a place of refuge where you can talk to people who understand, I have been here for 6 years, and remember coming here confused and worried, being here helped me a lot and still does.:)

Am I being too optimistic? Age 76. 5/2012 robotic prostatectomy.  Gleason 9 with 12 of 12 positive cores. No nodes. Post surgery psa zero at 2 and 3 months. Nov. 2012 psa 0.12 so began IMRT.  2 months after IMRT psa zero.  May psa Zero. Next psa 8/13/2013. Started Firmagon one shot 6 weeks before surgery; resumed Firmagon one week before IMRT and took it monthly during treatment and I am still on it.  Plan to stop in Oct. after 1 year total. I am encouraged by the aggressive treatment and repeated psa's of zero.  If psa next week is Zero that will 10 months of zero psa while on ADT.  Any one with same experience?  Gleason 9 is still a worry but I feel great with only mild hot flashes.  PMK

Does anyone have a good link for the PSA signs after primary therapy with IMRT and ADT? This seems to be a rather uncharted zone.

Sorry so long to catch this. Great news for your husband!! Wish you guys continued success!!

My IMRT of 41 treatments, 77 Gys including margins and seminal vesicle was completed 8/8/13 by Dr. Mack at Seby Jones. Have been on Lupron 7 months as of end of Sept. - URO would not do Casodex. Hindsight is I should have demanded it. 

I met with a Dr. William Berry, Medical Oncologist in Raleigh, NC on 10/7/13 to have him look at my records. He was surprised no test had been done for testosterone and DHT. He also said he would have added Casodex and Avodart with Lupron at the start. Anyway, he ran T, PSA, and DHT plus CBC and other bloodwork. Testosterone was <3 with PSA at 0.020. Next PSA was not scheduled by URO until 12/4/13 after the 0.4 one on 6/12/13 just before IMRT.

Guess I thought by now PSA would be undetectable? Maybe 12/4. My RO said I would probably have some residual PSA for sometime after IMRT?? As of 12/4/13, I will have been on Lupron 9 months. I plan to see Dr. Berry to follow my HT and PCa...not comfortable with local URO doing it.
