Just wanted to pass along the good news I received today, two years post-op - - - PSA has been a consistent <0.01. I am amazed at how relieved I am; I had no idea how much this was weighing me down in the back of my mind! Thanks again, everyone, for all of the support, information, and reassurance you and this forum provided back in the summer of 2011. It was a life-saver.

Great to read that.
Looks like you were very adamant with your screening. You caught it early with only a 2.8 PSA.
Was it your doctor that advised a biopsy or ? Some doctors wait until reaches the 4.0 threshold.

It was the PSA increase within one year's time, coupled with a Free PSA test, that led to the biopsy recommendation. Also, a verys strong family history.

Konrad, great news.
It has been quite awhile since we have heard from you as you and I joined HW about
the same time in 2011. Sorry to see your father passed away last March. Was it from his PC?

WaterGuy, you have an excellent memory. Yes, he passed away from complications related to his prostate cancer, which had metastisized to his bones. Originally diagnosed in 1991, he had radiation therapy, which sent the cancer into remission; it resurfaced (elevated PSA), in the early 2000s, and he did hormone therapy which helped for a while. I have to say that it is quite remarkable how long he lived with such a good quality of life. The last several years were increasingly difficult for both him and my mom, but I am happy to say that he did not suffer for very long. He had other health issues (one kidney as a result of kidney cancer, meningioma, atrial fibrillation, among others), and they all created the perfect storm this past March.

fantastic, Konrad. Let me tell you that things get even better at the 2 1/2 year mark.

Congrats Konrad, you had nothing to worry about
. (Easy for me to say, huh)
I am almost exactly 1 year behind you. Hope to stay in the Zero Club at that time myself.
Celebrate!
