Ongoing penile/urethral pain 4 months after DaVinci..help!

I know this subject has been noted in this forum, but looking for some help as I'm getting a little despondent.

Had Davinci done a little over 4 months ago; did well for few weeks until deveopled an e. coli UTI, treated with several weeks of antibiotics with multiple negative cultures subsequently. Ever since, however, have had persistent & constant burning type penile pain, mostly near meatus (opening), associated with "phantom " drip sensation as if I'm dripping/wet (but not). No continence issues. Symptom severity waxes & wanes during day, but never gone. I also note more urinary frequency during day ( 2-3 hours) but fine all night; symptoms gone during sleep. Had a cysto done few weeks ago that was completely normal. Seems symptoms due to some referred nerve pain form surgical site. What concerns me is my urologist ( & colleague as I'm a doc too) has never seen such a case in his near 1000 cases, nor has his colleagues.He has referred me to an anathesiolgist in a pain mamangment clinic for med suggestions. I'm willing to try, but concered re side effects of such meds given my line of work. I'm willing to tough this out if I knew sympoms are to eventually subside, but at this point I just don't know. Some postings on this site about similar issues are old, so I'm wondering any any fellow sufferers had any new updates/insights since then..Thx to all..

Hi espo, I got a similar sensation when I ate certain things. I cut them out and the sensation went away. Actually tested this 3 times with same food and same results. I'm sure that's not it, but it might also help to look at specific diet.

I discovered that one of the vitamins I was taking was was causing a burning sensation. I'd have to look on the bottle to get its name - but it also made my urine bright yellow.

I had some of these symptoms after cryo. Many of my symptoms improved over many months. Good luck.

I had the same issue and my urologist also made it sound like it was rare. It got worse as the day went along and would relieve when I laid down. I think at one point he called it suture line sensitivity. I drove me nuts but it did get better over time. I am 16 months out and have been continent for a year. But the whole area still feels funny at times - although continuously improving. Sometimes - particularly early in the day I feel almost normal. Be patient-you are very early in the healing process.

Has your doctor tried you on Pyridium yet? An inexpensive generic drug, that helps many with that burning sensation. Be worth a shot. Only warning, it will leave dye marks (bright orange) on anything it touches, i.e. your underwear or clothing. There have even been reports of it staining contact lenses if you wear them, as the dye works its way through your tear ducts. But I understand that is rare.

I have used Pyridium several times early in my PC journey, when I was having a lot of stricture issues, and it worked well for me. Most times, my uro gave me samples for free, and even when I had to buy it, it was like a 4 buck prescription.
