I'm heading into BT a little over a week from now. Having just finished my second knee replacement (OK, it's been about 2 months now, but the recovery is slow), I felt that I had done so little research about this procedure.
Your post really spoke to me in terms of what to expect -- it's way less worrying than TKR; like so many people say, we have no symptoms and it feels like nothing is wrong, so why am I having this procedure anyway? But our PCa is a reality that has to be dealt with one way or another (I am 3+4 in 1/12 cores, 3+3 in another 3).
BT was a fairly easy choice, especially after going through a super-invasive procedure like TKR. Both my urologist and radiation oncologist think either RP or BT would be good options.

Your post is like 'BT for Patients 101' -- thorough, personal, but not overly technical. Thanks so much, and may you continue your journey for many more years. cool

Welcome to HW -- and I thought I would give you your own thread so others would know you are here. Good luck with your upcoming brachy. There are a number of us brachy guys on this forum and most of us have done very well with the procedure. You can read my long-winded journey via the link in my signature. Since I have not had one yet, took me a while to figure out TKR was Total Knee Replacement.

Glad Jim started a new thread as I did not want to derail that one commenting on TKR. I like TLA's - three letter acronyms.

Welcome. You will find this forum very informative and also tolerant if you ever need to vent.

I can't offer any counsel on brachy either as I am in a waiting pattern until the hormonal therapy shrinks things down to a manageable size and quantity, but my day for surgery or radiation of some flavor will come.

Welcome board! You must be relieved to have made your CHOICE, that is a major milestone. Now don't look back or second guess yourself.

Welcome! Getting over the hump of educating yourself and making your choice is a MAJOR milestone. Congrats! BT was very high on my list of choices as well, and I wish you all the best moving forward. As you can see, there are a lot of guys around to help answer questions with thier experience.

I took the liberty of emailing G6 this morning with a copy of your post when I read it as I wanted him to know how his ‘journey’ is still helping others. Maybe he’ll drop in soon to say hi and give us an update on his progress now he is 2 months post implant.

Good luck with your Brachy – hopefully it will be a ‘walk in the park’ compared to your recent TKR!

Well, I have not been around too much lately, but Over sucked me back in for a post. I'm glad the link in my signature helped you to see what I went through.  I think it was Tud that gave me the idea.  I'm about two years out from the procedure now.

I just had a PSA test taken last week and should get the results soon. I did have a PSA test when I had my physical this year and it went up a couple of ticks, so i'm a bit nervous about the results. I'll update when I get them...maybe tomorrow.

I really don't think about the cancer now, except when I have my PSA tests. That's a good thing for me.
