Diagnosed Nov. 2011, have been on AS, but trying to decide on treatment now. Was leaning toward surgery but yesterday I had a stop you in your tracks shooting pain from somewhere down there. Of course imagination takes over, so I wanted to ask if anyone else had experienced any (thought to be) PC relateted shooting pains prior to treatment. Maybe surgery is not the best option for me anymore.

Could be hernia...or just a fluke.

I'm rather certain we ALL have pains that seem to come out of no where.. Some worse then others.

"Shooting pains" is such a generic description that no one can possibly guess what might be the cause. As Steve said above, we all have them. Personally, I would be extremely skeptical that these pains would have anything to do with prostate cancer. And I would be even more doubtful that they would indicate that the cancer has spread beyond the prostate.

My advice would be to relax and talk to your urologist about your growing anxiety.

Most likely it's not related to PC at all. Just tell your surgeon and they'll evaluate. Could be anything - hernia, pinched nerve, etc.

A call to the doc would be in order - at least to put your mind at easy or maybe it's something easy to fix.
