Injection-only ED rehab

I wonder if injections alone are sufficient for use in ED rehab while I wait for the nerves to come back to life after surgery.

I don't get much response from pills (zero from Cialis, and a 4/10 erection with Viagra) but still take them on non-injections days (with stimulation) per the rehab plan from my doctor.

If the purpose of the injections/pills is to preserve erectile tissue while waiting for the nerves to come back to life, it seems to me that it shouldn't matter whether injections or pills (or both) are used, as long as erections occur.

Thoughts?

Gedman: Many guys say that 1/4 of a 20 mg. tablet of Cialis taken before bedtime helps in getting nocturnal erections. I know that you said that you get "zero" from Cialis. So did I during the day when I consiously tried to have sex. But Cialis really works well for many men while deep sleeping and causes good and frequent nocturnal erections. These are very good to get in that oxygen-rich blood enters your penis during REM sleep and keeps things "alive' and prevents shrinkage. Very little expense and effort are required for this and it is a very good thing to do in concert with injections. You are relatively young and had an excellent surgeon, so you should expect to have a very good ED recovery. But don't be surprised if it takes a year or more to function on your own. Good Luck.

Gedman, Levitra never gave me an erection, even at the 20mg dosage, but I keep taking 5mg every night at bedtime. I've never noticed any nocturnal erections but I'm hoping the blood flow while I'm sleeping is keeping things alive down there until the nerves heal (if they ever do). Something seems to be working - I'm also injecting trimix (the 20MCG-30MG-1 MG/ML dosage of Alpro-Papave-Phent) and over the past month or so, I've been able to reduce from 95 units to 60 units and still get a full erection. The improvement gives me encouragement. It's been a long road and I'm hoping the rehab efforts are finally starting to pay off.

Gedman – According to Dr. Mulhall: The goal of penile rehab is to get 2 to 3 erections, at penetration hardness that last at least 10 minutes each week. You are right, it doesn’t matter what meds you use to get them … as long as you get them. However, Dr. Mulhall’s protocol calls for a quarter of a Viagra at bed time on non-erection nights – to keep fresh blood flowing and to encourage nocturnals.

PS: Mulhall says the you should not exceed 90 minutes – at penetration hardness.

I'm 4 months post RALP, and thinking about trying Trimix, just can't get past the needle quite yet. Has anyone ever tried the Trimix gel and had any luck with it?

I've never heard any first hand reports about Trimix Gel but I have heard some anonymous second-hand reports that it is pretty ineffective. You can get past the needle thing if you try. Lots of us here on the forum inject and, if you just met us, you would find that most of us are worse wimps than you are.

Richp-I am (was) the biggest wimp when it came to needles. My first fear after DX wasn't about the seriousness of PCa, but realizing that I was going to have to learn how to deal with blood draws and shots for this and that! Then of course was learning how to forget about any dignity I had...LOL

Anyways, Trimix users use very small needles. Almost the smallest you can use for anything and really, it is no big deal. It may feel like a temporary mosquito bite for a second or two and then you get to enjoy the REWARD!
