Started Radiation, High Energy X-Ray Photons and A Vertebral Compression Facture!!!

Last Wed, (Oct. 23rd), I started my first round of radiation.  Dr giving me 10 rounds to help a couple tumor's (huge one at T12). The past year, even with the HT, I've been in so much pain. 

Also, have a vertebral compression facture and this week, will go to my orthopedic to schedule a Vetebroplasty and kyphoplasty surgery! This will be my 4th surgery since Dec. 2004, with same dr.  The past several weeks, only sleeping 3 to 5 hours at a time (even with lots of pain meds).  I'm so ready for some relief!!

 Life goes on...and on...and on...I take it one day at a time!

Wow. That's a lot of surgery.

Is the fracture (s?) PC-related?

Good luck with the surgery and hope you find great pain relief.

Hang in there Dave. I remember last summer seeing on the beach my former teacher, he was obviously in pain playing ball with his grandson, my dad said he had PC with extensive bone mets, I just saw the man yesterday on his bike, looks better than ever. Never lose hope.

Hi Dave

My grandmother had the procedures you are undergoing performed when she was in her early 90's due to compression fx. The procedures helped her a lot. I hope you get lots of relief. When the spine is not compressing the cord or a nerve root it works wonders!

Thanks for your concerns. Doctor working on setting everything up. Next Thursday, I'll have an MRI, and hopefully will have the surgery the following week.

Scheduled next Wed., Nov. 6, for my surgery. Will report at 6:30AM and if all goes well, will get to go home around 4:30PM. Hoping for INSTANT pain relief.

Godspeed to you Dave. I ruptured two nucleus in 1992, one at L4-5 and one at L5-S1. Spinal pain is horrific and bone mets are just as bad. I am impressed with your great fight attitude. Lets hope you are riding a bike as Special Lady mentioned and prove to the world that nothing is going to slow you down. Best wishes next week with your surgery and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that you do get instant relief.

Hi Grandpaof4 I'm a friend of David's from the chronic pain forum. I just wanted to let you know you're not alone. I have a compression fracture as well. They really cause a lot of pain, don't they?

I wish you well with the surgery that you have coming up.

Grandpaw4 I hope your pain is somehow relieved. I can not imagine, nor do I want to, what it must be like. I see you retired from St Jude. Is that a local church in your area, or is it the St Jude Hospital of Danny Tomas fame. That history itself must have given you the inspiration to hold on in this, as you have. The suffering of children and toddlers is one of the hardest burdens for humans to bear…. The faith of children is a great teacher……. I can't imagine of anyone, regardless of personal beliefs on any side of any issue that would fault the previous truth. No personal truth on that issue….. I will pray for you Grandpaw! A reminder Grandpaw, this is not a " religious " reach out, it is way beyond that, this is a human being reach out…..

Worked at st. Jude Children's Research Hospital in downtown Memphis for 11 years in the maintenance dept. They do such amazing work and the children are treated like kings and queens. My wife and I, have had first hand experience with a friend of ours that was a patient, he's home and doing very well.

Yes, a lot more than a religious outreach, but true, life like ourselves!
