And this is Norway, imagine if they ran this in Italy or Mexico where machismo reigns supreme.

I think these articles often don't look at everything that is found in between the good/bad paradigm. It's a complex issue and also, of great importance, is the fact that the statistics i've seen on men with varying degrees of ED in their 50s and up are very high regardless of PCa.

As a man, I know what it is to be a man. I may not always like what it is to be a man. But I know what it is to be a man, feelings be darned. A man does not live by his external parts but by his being. Same goes for a woman , whom , btw know this better than men, about women and men. Lets stop BS ing each other and get real here. I get tired of Men here whining about their sexuality, good Golly. Thats my rant/whine. I'm entitled to it like everybody else on this site. If there was a tounge sticking out symbol Id post it with a big bleat……. I feel better awreddy…… thank you Ladies and Gentlemen!

When my wife calls me a "big strong man" it's a signal that I am about to be asked to do either heavy lifting or deal with something that just died in the backyard.

Sometimes my experience of being a man isn't good.

Well said, I even get that, and totally agree.

Think of some war veterans that had half their bodies blown off, doesn't make them any less a man.

Many far things worse that can happen to a man, then to have to deal with ED, and there are many non PC reasons that men deal with ED. I would hope that most men would feel their life is defined by more than the ability to have penile based sex.

I don't want to come off here as anti-intellectual, because I'm really not. FWIW, I'm right now reading my way through the published works of Richard Hofstadter. But some Ph.D hopefuls need to get a grip. Whatever I did with my private parts when I was 18 or 20 years old vs. whatever I do with my private parts now has nothing to do with my confidence in my gender identity. Likewise for my friends who ended up in wheel chairs or on artificial limbs.

Like what both of you are saying, I just enjoy life. Being a husband, father, and grandfather, makes up for some use of my private parts. I can be a man, and enjoy life without doing many things I once did. No more whining.

Well, then Goodlife, like Kiergagaard, I have found a reader. appreciate! Everyone pretty much knows the truth of the sentiments. It is just difficult to live your truth. I have empathy for that. Who really can, with " the other" always pestering us. But if nothing else, don't make " the other " true by giving in. Now if someone wants to read into that and put horns on that , go ahead,its Halloween. I say it is simply "the other" of a coin lets say . Doesn't make it less insidious or destructive, but its part of the package, deal with it. Science is studying it, at least. A wonder why question!! Why does a strand of DNA continuously repeat the universal sign of infinity?

Well, it is a test that's for sure. A man gets wrapped up in his penis. I am. I admit it. I love making love with my wife. Childish? Maybe. Sex isn't everything in life - being alive tops it (as I've been told here a few times: Not much sex when you're dead).

Gentlemen-I had to join, just to add my two cents to this thread.The ability to perform sexually and being a real man are two different things. Both of which to me at age 62 are very important. There will be no riding on the "Waaaaaa bus" for me. Im post op almost 4 years and have yet to have a natural erection. That being said our sex life is very important to us. So I grab the VED, pump it up, put on the rings and go to town twice a week. Regards Inkhorn

I was diagnosed G8, and had RP. Nerve sparing not an option. When I shared the post surgery pathology with my family and put my arms around them and hugged and cried the nerve sparing aspect became moot.
