Went back today for a cystagram and then what I was hoping would be catheter removal. Have been leaking pretty bad from tip of penis around cath for over a week now. Went back and saw one of the docs and they changed my meds for bladder spasms. Helped some but not a lot. Unable to keep enough contrast in at radiology to fill bladder. Doc saw small leak and I get two more weeks with cath. Happy Thanksgiving, sure hating things right now, not a happy camper. Sure hope there is light at the end of this tunnel. Just wanted to vent, thanks.

I remember those days quite well, as I had my original cath in for 63 days post surgery. Over 5 years later, I still have multiple bladder spasms daily, despite having a disconnected and non-functioning bladder. For the most part, the bladder spasms meds did little to help, but was better than nothing.

Hopefully you will finish mending fine, the cath will be removed, and you can move on with your recovery.

Vent any time. Hang in there, I didnt have cath problem but I did leak a lot and got a skin irritation that drove me crazy. It took time, but finally went away. I will pray that you see that light sooner than later. Good luck.

Thanks for god positive comments. It sure helps to know that there are others who have been there and done that and that things can and do get better just a long road and I guess I wasn't fully ready for all this and the emotions that come with it. I am very fortunate to have an amazing wife by my side and very supportive kids as well. thanks.

Look at it this way. The doc did what many uros consider an unneeded test, found a problem that had a lot of potential for getting much worse (think fistula), and adjusted accordingly.

I think your doc is on the ball.

I, too, developed a bladder leak after my RALP, and ended up doing a weekly cystogram until it finally healed and I got the catheter out after five weeks. It got very old, mostly because I couldn't turn over to get any real sleep. I hope yours comes out sooner, but in any case before you know it you will be as good as new. In the meantime, hang in there.

Thanks guys yeah I know that the doc is on it. He has a very vested interest in my care and is doing eVerything necessary to help me get better. Think he said it best in his office yesterday. "If I leave this in a,neither two weeks will it kill you?"..., I said no but I won't be happy, LOL. Thanks again everyone.
