Had a very nice meeting with my Oncologist today.
It was for my first PSA report after my 7 weeks of SRT ( Oct 1 - Nov 19, 2013).
I started the treatments with 0.35 as my PSA ...
- and now, my baseline for my "new normal" is 0.038 ( bloodwork taken Dec 15, 2013)...
I am to be retested again in 6 months time. I am coping with the side effects of the fatigue and scarring, etc of the radiation treatments - and have fared better than most - not happy about
the SE - but adjusting to this second "new normal".
It was nice to hear the Oncologist talk about
being pleased with the bloodwork results - testing in 6 months - being able to go back to the foods and supplements avoided during radiation treatments - speaking matter of fact that I will be tested twice a year for the next five years and after that he (the oncologist) will sign off and refer me back to my regular GP and have yearly testing then... Five years - that sounded so good - not tomorrow - not six months - but five years ...
There is often the debate of quality of life verses quantity of life - with many men often not given the chance to debate it at all ... was very nice to hear .. five years ...
happy hugs,
Bronson
