Eleven Week Update

Thought I might give a quick update on my progress over the last 11 weeks. Surgery was on 10.24 and I was home on 10.25. My only issue was an early catheter removal (4 days) and next-day reinsertion when I couldn't pass any urine. Catheter came out one week later with no further problems. That's when I began my incontinence battle.

I wasn't sure how this one was going to workout, but I'm seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. I was always dry at night, but used one HD pad a day. I did 100 Kegels and walked for 45 mins a day but often couldn't stop the leakage, particularly when I was up and about. Three days ago things changed. I went the whole day without leaking, even through my weight lifting workout. Yesterday I did the same thing. My only leak today was when I laughed suddenly. I'm not declaring victory yet, but I can tell things are improving. I continue doing the Kegels and walking. I've also noticed my bladder is functioning more like it used to-I don't have to forcibly push the urine out, it flows on its own.

ED remains an issue. I'm taking a daily 25mg Viagra and 100mg as needed. My erections are about 75%, per an independent evaluator, but there is room for improvement. I try to use a VED daily, without the ring, to get things moving. Again, I've seen improvement since surgery, but eventually I'd like to ween myself from the drugs altogether.

Nothing spectacular here, but for those more recently out of surgery it's a little look ahead. Everyone's case is different, but perhaps my experiences will be beneficial to others.

Thanks for sharing makes me think that there is hope! I am three weeks behind you but not doing nearly as good with incontence, think I need to up my walking and kegels!!!

Bobf, thanks for posting the data. Looks like you're on a great path.

Please tell more about the "independent evaluator". Is that fee based? Volunteer? A service provided by your local pharmacy? Had to ask.
