Boyfriend and I met with Dr. Samadi on Tuesday this week. Results on Wednesday.... still <.01. PSA anxiety is beginning to lessen. Phew! A year in reflection... we had up and downs.... Incontinence was a major issue, but his problem wound up being OAB (as a result of surgery) that Toviaz significantly helped. Not padless yet, but almost there. ED is a work in progress.... can achieve 50% with pills, 100% with trimix. Had one ER trimix visit. Never want to do that EVER again. Considering he was 100% naturally pre-surgery, we have hope that the 50% with pills will get back to 100% in time. I know this can take 2+ years, plus he is 66, so age may play a factor. The only thing missing here is the spontaneity. We miss that. Having to plan the shot can be a pain. But hey, not the end of the world. Physically, he's back to pre-surgery strength (actually even better), working out 5 days a week, boxing, strength training etc.
Anxiety will lessen in time, but it feels the worst is behind us.
For all the guys who had surgery (and were blessed with a good path report) there is a light at the end of this.
P.S. My dad had PC surgery in 2001. He's been blessed with a cure as well. He considered AS as well, and the doc mentioned his is young (65 at the time) and in good shape to handle the surgery and recover. He went with it, and good thing. In the years after that, he had a quadruple by-pass, a small stroke as a result of the surgery, and almost fatal Coumadin overdose (doctor staff screw up) and an aortic aneurysm repair. He is in great shape now (off Coumadin) and came through everything, but food for thought. They never would have operated on him after all those issues. Everybody's journey is different and you have to choose your own path. I just share for information purposes and not advocating a particular treatment. Life can change on a dime... you never know what is in store tomorrow.
An if you are doing the math, yes my boyfriend is 20 years older than me! Love him to death, pre-surgery and post.
