Removal of the darned thing July 2009. 6 months ago, PSA .08. Yesterday, PSA .11...SHOULD I be concerned?
Gave your thread a title. Welcome to the forum.

Now may be a good time to begin discussions with a Radiation Oncologist about
salvage radiation treatment. It's a good idea to do that before your PSA exceeds .2. Some ROs before to treat when it reaches .1.

If it was from the same lab, then yes, I would be concerned. That being said, I wouldn't be in panic mode until I had another test or two to confirm a steady rise. What were your stats? Gleason? Margins? Hope you get some good answers and good luck to you.

Thanks guys. Negative margins, age 49 at time of surgery, easy surgery, complete bladder control, sexual function good after a year (sometime the blue pill comes in handy), DaVinci performed by The City of Hope (Kawatchi: 3,000 plus surgeries) 7/09, complete confinement. He wants to see me in 6 months. WHY after nearly 5 years does things start to happen? He told me: "radiation if it bumps again; painless, 6-8 weeks...IF it goes up..." As far as "the same lab" is concerned, well, I really can't think of a better Cancer Hospital than The City of Hope. I know its not a death sentence but its just a pain in the ass...this time next year I retire (32 years in the fire department).

You had a good run of zeros which bodes well for success of your possible radiation. Wondering why now or why at all is the question we'd all like to know-- especially those of us with sons. Best wishes and I hope you see a decline next test.

Lots of us here have done the radiation thing. For most of us it isn't a big deal although we do have a couple of guys who have had problems with it. Still, the radiation is not something that should keep you up at night worrying.
Do you remember your post-op Gleason score?

Please read my reply to proscapt's thread about
SRT. It would be the exact same advice that I would be giving you.

Mr. Purgatory: Hmm, since I'm new to this site, maybe you could direct me to the thread you were referring to...

So, after some extensive reading, it appears that: 1. the doubling time is a factor 2. Some urologists say that once it its .3 it may be time and 3. There have been studies that say there are benign cells in the prostate bed that temporarily cause the bump. The American diet I still feel is the culprit. "Forks over Knives" explains a lot of it (a documentary that can be found on NetFlix). Meat, GMO's, food additives. I'm going to have to really refine the diet (I'm sure being a fireman for over 30 years has nothing to do with it right?). Either way, one can't worry or stress as THAT will do NOTHNG. Thanks gentlemen...

Concerned, yeah you need to watch out now. The retest in six months is prudent. There are worse things in the world than radiation and while it's likely that's what will need to happen, it's not a given at this time.
as to why? so hard to say. Maybe a PC cell escaped the knife. You can drive yourself crazy with that kind of question.
Hang in there and keep us updated on your progress.
