I had a degarelex shot in November then surgery then another degarelex shot in december. Started Lupron 4 month in January.
Except for a very few minor hot flashes, I have had zero side effects.(besides not having any desire what so ever)
Am I just lucky??

January this year?
Give it time. Mine took a couple of months to really set in.

That's fairly typical. Aside from hot flashes, zero libido and total ED (which most guys do notice) the other side effects tend to be cumulative and subtle at first. Men slowly lose muscle mass and bone density. They are more easily fatigued. Their body fat starts to increase, some of it growing in odd areas. They watch less ESPN and more Hallmark Channel. Things like that. Check back with us in a couple of months. We'll help you take inventory.

One bit of wardrobe advice given me by a friend, which proved very correct - if you are a sweatshirt wearer, get some that zipper. When you get a hot flash, you won't be able to pull that thing off fast enough.

Alephnull,
My experience on hormone therapy wasn't bad and I would describe it pretty much like you described it...for the whole time I was on it.

Alephnull,
Why did your Dr. discontinue degarelix
and start you on Lupron?
Thanks

the effects come on slowly and I think it's normal at some point to think you may be the exception, and you may just be
!

Wife here. We are where you are. No side effects yet. Still having sex a couple times a week with no problems. Making hay while the sun shines.
I read the stats on the Lupron insert--looks statistically probable to sail thru with few SEs. As you will hear over and over again, every man is different.
Good luck.

And the body hair loss. Mine started in the third month and by the 6th month 90% of my body hair was gone. Only plus is that for the first time in nearly 40 years my wife didn't complain about
the hair left in the shower after I toweled off. That and I don't have to consider waxing my back. This is probably how I will measure my return to normalcy now that I have had my last shot of Eligard.

So far I've "just" had
open RP and the only side effect is worse ED than I had pre-op. But at age 70- I'm not overly concerned. However I'm most likely facing HT and RT since I'm stage pt3b. My uro says some of his patients had no meaningful SEs from Lupron. I hope I'm one of them because I don't relish HT or RT.

Boogee,
I have no idea, I at this point am just a sheep.
But so you don't think I'm too much the idiot.
I ran down to MD Anderson a month after surgery and they confirmed Dr Rupp's treatment plan.

For those who do get hot flashes I have heard it referred to as a gentle reminder that the Lupron is doing its job.
I started 03-28-13 and I do nto think I have had a hot flash in 2014, but maybe that's the Lupron memory moments thing, CRS, can't remember shinola.
As PeterDA said the total loss of libido is there but by it's nature no longer think about
sex, so do not realize I have lost my libido.
As Todd says in his blog, this makes it particularly tough on the spouse, who may at one time have asked for not so much public displays of affection but now regrets her prayers were totally answered.
I am very fortunate to have no Lupron side effects other than about
an 8 pouind weight gain and associated lack of muscle mass that happened during GHMPH Rochester and I cannot shake it like I used to, and the absence of libido.
Right now I am blaming it on the groundhog rather than the Lupron and hope to get more regular in my 15 mile bike rides soon.
