I'll really try to be positive for you because that's very important. I have to admit though, that I would be getting nervous about it all after so many years. Remember, NO test is foolproof. I personally wouldn't trust an MRI if it didn't have a probe. Even that isn't foolproof, but it shows more than the other types. I wonder.... wow, I personally would think there's something going on with all that PSA number fluctuation. My Urologist told me that #4 for the PSA is the beginning of the "suspect" numbers. I'm wondering why your Urologist appears so nonchalant and isn't proceeding with more urgency.
In October my PSA showed 4.3. (Last year it was 3.4 Doctor said, "See a Urologist!" Urologist ordered another PSA. Reading was 5. At the beginning of December I had a biopsy done. It suggested cancer in 4 "sections" of the prostate -
possible Gleason 6 and 7. Decision time: Urologist a surgeon so I already had his info. Visit to a Radiation Oncologist helped me determine Not to go with radiation! Back to Urologist. He ordered an MRI With Probe. Good idea because it showed more detail of the cancer for the surgeon to use. Feb. 3rd I had a Prostatectomy. Stayed in the hospital one night. Home the next day wearing a catheter. Catheter removed on Feb 11. Surgeon called on Fri Feb 7th to tell me the Pathology Report results showed that ALL cancer (which had been a Gleason 7 and covered 40% of the prostate) had been totally removed when the prostate was removed! No further treatment needed! Now I just need to do Kegel exercises to help the pelvic muscle regain it's strength, so my bladder can once again work properly. Short term bout with cancer.... learned a Lot. Now on the road to recovery! Prostate cancer Survivor!
