Interestingly enough, the doctors at that point thought that because of the psa and gleason, that it probably was too late…and he was not a candidate. We had doctors from Gainesville, Moffit, and Mayo…say that.
One thing we really learned….don't ever tell the second doctor that it is a "second opinion" They RARELY differ…especially, if they are both radiologists or surgeons. Each wants to do what they do. That was what I asked the doctors at MSK when four years later, and the psa rose….If he wasn't a candidate then, why is he now? They said, well, perhaps it has NOT escaped and we can still get it. They also told us that salvage surgery after radiation was very difficult, but could be done with a very skillful surgeon…and could debulk the tumor and gain time. Yes, the cure was very difficult. Who is to say..what might have been? No one knows….. Thank you. Di

Di.. I heard/felt EVER word you said...
Oh how I do agree, and that was one of the big reasons why my BURNer-Advisor, said "NO - Surgery first - Once cooked, it's like sewing well-done steak.. You can always burn later , if needed"
That adviser knew that he had no interest in me, other than as a friend-of-Family..
Cutters-CUT, BURNERS-Burn.. Neither really wants to say the other is better..
I suspect that the BEST thing for any Newbie to do is to take the Bx-Report and say "Now- I need advice from you" and as you say - NEVER admit to what another has already said..
"[...Who is to say..what might have been? No one knows….]"
the only hope here, is that OTHERS might learn what is the best path to follow..
Let them learn from our experience/mistakes..
What time is the OP on Friday..?

mbock
Studies have shown that RT has NO BENEFIT with SVI unless HT is given first. This is IMPORTANT! As your doctor about
this!!! I would not start any more treatment until PSA was .2 twice in a row, or >.2 once. That's the advice I'm getting from Johns Hopkins and I'm Gl9, stage pt3b.
