Hi All -
I have been lurking here for a little while, and I want to thank all you guys for the support you give. I am 55, dx at 50. I have no idea about any of my pre- and post-surgery numbers. I am, for the most part, moving on from my cancer. Sort of. The dreaded PSA test approaches next week, and so I am anxious again. As I am sure you can all relate to, hence I decided to register and make the comment I will in a minute. Except I had forgotten I registered earlier, without posting, and attempted to re-register. As a part of registering, I had to type in the phrase that showed up: "Meat Without Gravy" --- OOF that seemed so harsh. I almost pissed my pants. OK - there was no almost about it (I am used to it, so it was worth the laugh!)
Mods - was that random, I hope so!
Anyway, my trip through prostate cancer has had some funny times, and I will share them with you as I get up the courage to to so, but the reason I got up the guts to actually post is the couple of young (you guys wish) guys that have posted in the past couple of days.
I am a person who inherently trusts their doctor. I have had the same one for 20+ years. Then you get cancer, and they don't tell you what to do. They tell you what your choices are. It is very hard to deal with.
I totally support the posts that say "it is your body, it is your choice." It takes a while to realize that. I wish I had found this site before I made the choices I made. I am glad there is a resource like this.
Having said that, I have made my choices, and I promise to share some funny stories about my journey, it might just take a year or two. I promise if I exit the "0" club, I will share them quickly, so I can benefit from your guys advice.
