Best cushion for sitting after Brachytherapy?

The key is soft. For about three weeks I was tender and avoided hard chairs. Actually the most comfortable seat was in my car. The real key is to not just plop down. Rather you should ease into the chair or seat. I did not use any kind of special cushion and was fine.

I had the same protocol and it wasn't bad after the first procedure. But after the second, I was a bit uncomfortable. You will do fine. I used a cold compress frequently for the first few days and that helped. Take a good soaking bath each evening and that will also help.

I soaked the first night. You will have a pad when you leave the treatment center as you will have a little blood spotting from the 15-20 punctures to the perineum, but no real bleeding. Thus, that evening you can ease into a bath.

The next morning be prepared that your groin area will be black and blue. There is a certain amount of bleeding internally from the catheters and it will pool in the groin, scrotum, and penis. Pretty weird! You will probably be on a steroid for a few days to limit any swelling. My uro and rad-onc like to use Jalyn (Avodart and Flomax) to fight the DHT and help the urinary. I had no problems so it must have worked.

I stopped caffeine, carbonated beverages and fruit juices the week before. The acidity is tough on the urinary system. I went to a lot of water and green tea, and of course my nightly red wine with dinner.
