Hello everyone,
All of that worry and dread for nothing. I had my biopsy today and it was nothing. No pain at all, it fact I was so relaxed I felt myself getting really sleepy. I joke about it to my doctor and nurse.
I have a female urologist. I REALLY liked her. She explained everything in detail and was very gentle. I had the biopsy because she felt a nodule a couple of weeks ago. I was having what I thought was prostate symptoms. Pain in my lower back and hips, getting up at night, and a long history of prostate infections.
I was extremly nervous and anxious about this test. I don't understand why some guys say its painful? Reading some of the horror stories about a biopsy had me very upset. I felt nothing at all like pain. Not even discomfort. The probe didn't hurt and the slight popping sound of the samples being taken was nothing. I never flinched or noticed anything. It was over in about ten minutes. She took 12 samples and I asked if she got a piece of the lump. She said she thought so, but if I was OK, she would try to get as close as possibe. She took 2 more because I was fine.
It was about 5 hours before I could urinate. Mostly blood. I feel just fine. No pain or soreness so far. Maybe I will get a good nights sleep tonight.
I'm really not too concerned about the results. My PSA is 1.67, no family history of PC, and maybe with some medication and life style changes I can improve the symptoms. I am 61 smoke and drink too many colas. I have already switched to caffein free cola, she started me on tamsulosin. Whatever that is. The results are do on the 3rd of April. I'm looking forward to seeing her again. I think I have a crush on my female urologist!
