AUS advice

The recovery should not be bad at all, some soreness in the bottom of his scrotum but very little pain. Then after the first week just the usual hernia cautions. You may want to think about some type of pad or pad placement that he wont be sitting on as that area will be sore to deal with the incontinence for the healing period. I was and am very satisfied with my AUS and hopefully you will be too. He will have a catheter when he wakes up and it should be removed the next am.
On further thought, maybe bring some incontinence briefs to wear home as that might be the most comfortable at first. Compared to what has happened already, this will be "a piece of cake".

Thanks, guys. The doctor is very confident in the AUS, but did not recommend the sling. He did say a doctor in Hampton, VA has had better success with the sling and if we were set on it that he would send us down there. That's about 4 hours away and we weren't set on it. DH has been a trooper about the whole incontinence problem, but has had enough!

Thank you. Your positive experiences reinforce that this is the thing to do and sooner than later. Sounds like the surgery and recovery will be well worth the end of the problem. Gold standard, "piece of cake"--sounds good!

Good on you both. Be sure to post some updates on your experience. It's really helpful to others considering or going through the same think. I did a week by week update and even a few tidbits of the experience at the hospital.

Also, some of us "AUSperts" will be able to give you some tips and tricks we learned from others on how to handle Willie and The Boys when your new toy is activated. Like how to pee one handed standed at a urinal without your neighbor even realizing you have a mechanical wonder.
