I am very young (53) and still have ED 14 mos. post-op. Obviously, even after being very optimistic time would do the trick since both nerves were spared, I'm getting concerned. Here's my deal:

Can get a usable erection with between 15-20 units Trimix about 75% of times used, although I didn't start injecting until about 10 mos. post-op (long story). Can get some "plumpness" (approx. 50%+-) a fair amount, and always on the 2 days per week I take 20mg. Cialis. Got a 75% spontaneous erection several nights ago. ED pump gives plumpness, but no usable erection ever.

So the short story is I only use trimix on average 1-2 per month. I initially felt trimix would "jump-start" and enable erections with only Viagra/Cialis, but that's not been the case.

The question is has anyone experienced ED this long and later obtained usable erections without trimix? I used Viagra pre-surgery, but mainly as "insurance" because of a drug cocktail I have to take for bipolar. Those drugs can knock you down a little so I took V to improve quality of erection.

Your thoughts, experiences and comments are welcome. I really, really, (did I mention really?), don't want to envision a life of injections.

Hi Franco, here is my story I am 18 post RP I was using 10 units of Trimix intermittently let’s say every other day for two weeks or so then sopped it for months then started again and stopped because I don’t want to keep injecting myself very often I have to say that I took Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra but they didn’t helped me at all, using Trimix I achieve 100% erections for about 30 minutes with the ability to have a good sex but I don’t like the injections that is the reason because I don't use it on a regular basis, I use the vacuum pump more often as a therapy but not for a sex intercourse.
I have to tell you that I got frustrated thinking to get chained to a syringe to get erections for the rest of my life, about two months ago I asked the doctor who performed my surgery about if he was able to spare my nerves he did about 95% on both sides he told me to be patient because he said it takes a while for them to recover between two and two and a half years.
The good news for me is about a month ago I started to have erections without any medications that is a very good sign that the recovery is happening, so what I can tell you is hanging out there and be patient the recovery time for every men is different but the time for your recovery is coming.

I am now at 2 years, 1 month post surgery. Recently for the first time I had a very satisfactory encounter to conclusion with 20 mg Cialis, probably 95% or so. Prior to this, the Cialis just made things "puffy" and not useful for anything. So there is hope even after 2 years that things will improve. However, still no "natural" response of any use (with no pills).
I used injections occasionally, but I quit because of painful erections.

Hi Franco,it took me about seven monthsbut with cialis,viagra,or levitra it is ok.

It will come back ok for you just waight. yeah

Did your doc say "you'll get it up at 14 mos"? NO! He/She said 2yrs.. Right? BE PATIENT! I've had a bad day, forgive me

Thanks for words of encouragement. Patience is a virtue, huh? Yeah, I still feel like I'll get there, I just don't like the thought of "use it or loose it", you know?

Gonna do,injections a little more often to get some more blood flow. Also, I find that only doing it 1-2 a month still gives me a shaky hand and a little forehead sweat because I'm not used to it. Also gonna change things up a bit and try 5mg Cialis daily instead of 20mg twice weekly. No harm done either way.

Don't discount a pump,either. I wasn't crazy about it at first, but it's not that bad.

Surgery in June '13, I use 5 mg Cialis daily and don't pump as often as I should. I get nocturnal erections and partials now, but I had some slight ED pre op, so I'm not all that shook up about it.

Let's just say we still make good use of it the way it is and leave it at that. wink

Yes, thanks, I use the pump to stretch penile tissue, but I've had zero success getting a usable erection. Plump, yes. Sufficient for intercourse, no. Those d... Rubber rings are freakin mideival! I popped one of those things on once and that was a plenty for me.

Not to play doctor, but use the pump religiously. It not oxygenated blood flow into penis, but is effective at keeping penile tissue elastic. I've lost about 1/2 inch in length but I think I gained it in girth. I have little to spare on length so I pump every other day at least.

Franco, I wasn't crazy about the VED and those rings, but I did find that the largest ring works best for me. It's tight enough to keep an erection for as long as we want, but not too tight to cause extreme discomfort. With use, the ring gets more comfortable, but that big snap when it slides off the pump is still a jolt. I can say that I've gained a little size with the VED. I haven't been this hard since my 20's. She likes it.

I get nocturnal erections and I get erections without a pump that are usable for other play besides penetration. Maybe that's why I don't need a ring that's quite so tight.

Keep at it. This disease sucks, but it's not gonna steal what I have left.

Franco,

Dont lay on your back and expect an erection - gravity works against you. Your best bet is sit or stand up when you take the "situation in hand".

Be patient and keep you dick healthy. Give it the occasional massage, "talk" to it, follow the VED exercises previously mentioned and give it a gentle "tug" once in a while.
