3 years ago I was diagnosed. Gleason was 6,6 PSA 4.8! Was put on avodart to reduce enlargement. After 1 year another PSA dropped to 1.5 and 2nd biopsy showed no cancer! This year psa jumped back up to 4.9. Doc wants to do another biopsy!!
My feeling is that I may as well have it removed and get it over with! Wonder what you all think about
this?
I have resisted having it removed because wife and I were still having intercourse. However since on the avodart, that just does not work anymore. So would I not be wise to just get it removed?????
Thanks for any repsonses.

Those much wiser will chime in...but if it was me, i'd do the biopsy & get results...& then consult withal...& then make a decision.
Stay intact as long as it makes sense !

Did your doctor give you an antibiotic to help rule out a prostate infection as a possible cause of the PSA rise?

Gerry, welcome to HW.
I agree with April's suggestion to run a course of antibiotics and re-testing PSA before undergoing another biopsy. Also, you might consider a multi-parametric MRI.
" I may as well have it removed and get it over with!" may sound good but prostate surgery is a really big deal with potentially life changing side effects. IMHO, you need to first find out if you have cancer, then stage it properly, then educate yourself on the disease then carefully decide on whether or not you need ANY treatment and, if so, choose the best one for your circumstances.
Good luck.
Jim
