Full on radiation in 2010. Then PSA 3.1 Oct 2013. Now PSA 13.1 May 2014

Yes really 13.1 and I am truly shocked at the possibilities.

Urologist appointment next week, so I request opinions as follows:

I believe I would have been better off without and treatment going back to 2010, was talked into it and that is over. Now I don't want to do anything but live a peaceful sexless life with all my parts as I have done since 2010 and pass in peace.

Is this possible? What could be in store for me and will it be manageable.

I live a sexless life living very alone since 2010 and really can't take much more of life like this, especially with more "treatments".

Welcome to the forum. Sorry you've gotten some distressing news but glad you found us. I think we can help you put things in a bit more perspective.

First, can you tell us a bit more about yourself? How old are you, is the main question, and aside from the prostate cancer worries, how healthy are you? The answer to your questions depends on those factors. If you are young and healthy then you're going to need more "treatments" to live out your life despite your prostate cancer coming back. Also, do you remember your "Gleason" score from your initial diagnosis? That makes a difference, too.

You sound a bit depressed. That's not surprising. Most guys who get the sort of news you just got are knocked down by it. We have lots of men on the forum who have been where you are -- knocked flat on their backs by a rising PSA when they thought they were done with the mess. But they pick themselves up and they do fine. You will too. Tell us about yourself and we can tell you what to expect.

Sorry you have to be here. What were your stats back in 2010. Also, did you know when your PSA started to increase. Hopefully you will have a good visit with your urologist next week. Please keep us posted on your visit. I know if is hard but hang in there.

I think you need more than just a Urologist. A good medical oncologist specializing in PC would be a good person to talk to.

and have you expressed these feelings to you're doctor. There are things that can help you deal with the shock of the PSA test and the depress that this PC thing can bring on.

The situation is not hopeless. My circumstances are similar with failed RT and living alone. You do not mention it you have had any hormone therapy but my suggestion would be to explore this with your doctor. I have been off and on HT for the last seven years.

I empathize with your single status but do believe you can find compaionship even without the sex. By the way I did have some partial restoration of sexual function last year while on an HT holiday. The HT is relatively benign. Weakness and easy to tire are the most annoying for me. I can handle the rest.

Talk with your doctor and do your best to be a bit more social. Both will help.
