Hi guys.

I'm 14 months out from robot surgery and 2 of the "holes" (the incision above the naval and the next one over on the right side) for the robot arms are still bothering me. It's not a constant pain, but from time to time, they feel like they have been stretched out and get sore.

My question, is this considered normal to still be feeling minor pain this far out?

I would think you'd be over any surgery issues like this. It may not be related to the surgery - maybe a slight injury to weakened tissues, but it's difficult to say and I am no doctor.

I would mention it to your doctor. Might be worth a phone call - to put your mind at ease if nothing else.

These days, every new pain or medical problem that pops up, my first thought is, "Did the radiation do this?" My doctors most common reply is, "No, but you are getting older and for a man of your age..."

If you hold your hand lightly over those two incision points and cough do you feel anything bulge? Umbilical hernias are a not-particularly uncommon side effect of robotic prostate surgery. I have a mild one.

My surgeon confirmed it and says its not a big deal to have it fixed. It feels weird but isn't particularly painful -- an occasional tugging feeling and maybe a small ache. My main worry is that it might get worse at an inconvenient time. I may look into getting it fixed at the same time as my sling and implant if I can talk my surgeon into it. The recovery will be a bit like being run over by an Amtrack train but should be less time off work, total, than the two separate recoveries.

Hmm
I held my finger over the naval incision and coughed, I can feel a slight bulge or rise in the incision. It didn't hurt.
At times it feels like a cramp type of pain right under the incision and behind the naval. Only last a few seconds but then it feels sore for a couple of hours.

I'll tell my doctor this at the next appointment unless it gets worse. I'm hoping it's just from me stretching around or whatnot, and that it's just the tissue adhesion's from surgery that are being painful.
