Been thinking this Memorial Day about
a good high school buddy, Les, and a good college buddy, Mike:
Les: born 1945, killed in action, Binh Dinh Province, South Vietnam, March 27, 1970
Mike: born 1943, killed in action, province not reported, South Vietnam, September 19, 1966
Thank you, guys, for your ultimate sacrifice on behalf of our country. Being your friend back then was both a privilege and an honor.
Rest in peace, guys.

Lieutenant,
Well said! Let's never forget our fallen comrades. A rough day.

I am sure it has been said a thousand times already but it can never be said enough. Thank you to all who served our nation and especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice. My son is army, my other son is a submariner on a fast attack boat and my son in law is Air Force. I am proud of them all and hope I never have to lay any of them to rest because they died in service. Thank all of our veterans. You are the reason we are free to live the life that we choose. Todd

They won't be forgotten - not as long as I am around. Today I put my brand new flag out and even manged a bit of a Memorial day post on my blog.
and let's not forget the number of our vets who ended with PC - some due to their service.
Thanks to all who serve.

81, great post, always brings back memories of my days in the Nam. What was any 18 year old doing in that "war"? I often ask myself that now at my current age, like, what did I know at that age 10,000 miles away from home. But we all did what we did, and I would do it again.
I went into Navy boot camp in Orlando, under the buddy plan they had back then. A good high school friend went in with me. He begged for Nam, and got it right out of boot camp. He was literally killed on his first day in country in Cam Rah Bay, by a stray mortar shell randomly hitting the barracks for the incoming Navy guys. Almost prophetic, but very sad. Like me, he had just turned 18.
All this talk makes me want to visit the Wall again, been over 25 years for me, last time, it was almost too emotional for me with my kids (young at the time). They didn't understand, and it was hard to explain to them.
My hats off to all my brother Vets here at HW PC, and for those currently serving on our behalf now that we are too old to serve.

Thanks 81. I was at my town's memorial day event this morning. Speeches on the common and than a parade, of sorts. I posted a message last night on my Facebook page about
the crew of PCF (swift boat) 19 we lost in 1968 while I was on the safe end of the radio. We all deal with what we deal with here in PCa land, but sometimes it can be over in an instant, when you least expect it.
