2nd time HT hitting hard

My father seems to be taking HT side-effects harder the second time around, or is it due to his overall health decline? He is not complaining, but he is obviously slower, he says he tires fast, he is sweating. It started after his first shot a month ago. Normally, he is thin and active, and to see him like this is a bit discouraging, because during the first cycle of HT he seemed much better off. Also, he received Zoladex now, as opposed to Trelstar during the first cycle not sure if that makes a difference.

Just looking for any similar experiences...and how did you make it better? We are also starting to experience hot weather, so that is of course not helping. Thank you.

So sorry that your father isn't doing so well with the HT treatments. As I'm on my first round of HT, I can't offer any suggestions. I just wanted to let you know I'm here to support you and your father and let you know I'm praying for your father and others on HW as well.

Soon, others will chime in with suggestions.

Sorry to hear your Dad is having a rough time. It is similar to my experience on my second round. I finally had to stop after the fourth shot of the second round. I could not get out of chair without help, was sleeping all the time and sweating a lot. I stayed off for a year and my PSA went to 28 but I regained my strength and alertness. I started a third round in January 2014 and so far so good. I have to say my second round was more bothersome than the first two year regimine.

Hope he gets to feeling better soon.

My husband is too on his 2nd round of HDT.
He was given Lupron the first time and had all of the SE.
He now is on Degeralix and is doing fine. He had his 4th shot last week and these are given monthly.
He has started an exercise program and don't know if this had made a difference.
Perhaps you can talk to your Dad's Dr. about changing him to see if something else might work with less SE.

Thanks for helpful suggestions, Don and Boogee. My father told me this morning he was throwing up last 3 mornings. I am thinking Casodex is at fault...

I can only speak on the first time I was on ADT3...It took me awhile both physically and mentally to get used to the new meds.  I know exercise helped me with both of those...

Either way -- will be thinking of you guys...tell him to hang in there...winter is coming...(that's just wrong given the winter we had...)
