I noticed, while filling out the volumes of forms for my MRI, a question asking if I had Brachy Thearpy where seeds had been implanted. I realize that titanium is not magnetic and wonder why the MRI folks would ask this question? I am certainly hoping that all who have had BT seed implants never have need for another MRI but just in case . . . ???????

Likely they just want to know in case the seeds show up on a scan. That way they don't flag it as a problem.

Just a guess.

I think you are right, Inthe. The same is true when you have a colonoscopy: you must inform the doctor before the procedure that you have had brachy, otherwise they may draw erroneous conclusions.

Hi Browntrout.  The answer is yes; I recently had an MRI.  This is from the CPC's website:

Can a patient have an MRI or CT Scan if the patient has had a seed implant?
Yes, the seeds are titanium, similar to other pins or clips used in medical procedures. There are no contraindications to MRI or other scans.
