How difficult is it to work when you develop meta PCA?

Hi Harm63,

Welcome to our little corner of the world.

To answer question, I think the anger is for the most part...yes...I know a ton of guys that have continue to work, including me, despite having mets.

What's your specific confer and perhaps we can address it..

I think the issue is how sick are you. I think one of the curses of this disease is that you don't get really sick until the disease has progressed dramatically. I had my RALP and spent 8 weeks out of work. I had adjuvant radiation therapy (38 GRYS in 35 sessions) and only missed 3 days of work. My meta PCa is still undetermined. My next PSA will be the telling one. My intention is to continue working. Depending on the treatment options, I only intend to miss work for doctor's appointments. So, it depends.

My husband is 68, we own a convenience store, he was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer with wide spread mets April 1, 2014. He works every day at our store, however, I have noticed that he is a bit more tired. All of 2013 he complained of pain, but thought it was arthritis and just kept working. I too have wondered how long he is going to continue to want (or be able) to work. His urologist/oncologist has told him to keep doing all normal day routines, which has always included work. I do worry about the risk of breaking a bone, or a spinal problem, but try not to hover too much over him. I think he will know when it all becomes too much.
