The new neuro ophthalmologist we saw today thinks Don's new eye issues (palsy of abducens nerve on the same side as the head pain) is likely due to mets despite two clear CTs and a "negative" MRI. She is determined to find out and is walking over to the cancer agency after her clinic today to analyse the scans with a radiologist. Then, if not, more spinal taps to keep looking for cancer cells. Apparently three are needed to rule this out. Prayers please and thank you... Moonlitnight

Hello Moonlitnight,
So sorry to hear of Don's newest findings. Just to let you know, during my daily devotions, I pray for my brothers and their families here on HW that God will heal us of this dreadful disease, for encouragement and give us all the strength to fight our battles. My wife and I believe in Gods healing power.
I too, have mets from my skull (mostly right side) down to my knees. I'm happy to say, since being on HT (and after 2-3 months of starting HT) my PSA has been <0.01.
We just take it one day of the time.
God bless you guys.

Thank you for the update. I've been following your updates with a heavy heart. But, this sounds like good news. You may be able to resolve these latest symptoms, both eye and headache issues.
You have also had to deal with incompetent and/or ego-driven medicos. That is so said, to have to deal with the system on top of these issues.
It looks like your latest doctor is a keeper.

I have to admit I'm a bit confused. You had the scans a few weeks ago. Were the scans considered negative before then?

Thank God, and your neighbor, for the excellent doctor. I am sure he will get relief with the treatment.

Moonlitnight,
No personal experience with radiation, though, everything I've
read on this forum indicates that men get great relief from their pain. Will be
lifting you and Don tomorrow for great results.

Been off the boards for a bit. . .just caught up with this thread. Oh, so sorry. But glad you know what it is. All positive energy for a swift relief from pain for Don. We are in the blissful (and we know temporary) lull for now. Grabbing life as hard as we can while Nick feels good.
Keep us posted.

Just read your latest news, upon my return. Sorry to hear the first news, and encouraged by the 2nd. You have my prayers regardless.
I am starting to lose some faith in doctors in general myself, none of them can figure out what is wrong with me at this point, they keep saying nothing shows up in the MRI's and CAT scans and so much blood work, yet my body is wasting away right in front of my eyes. And the worse part, none of them seem overly concerned at this point. I feel too, that they are missing something, something important.
Good luck and best hopes to the both of you.

Sending prayers from Calif....so glad you were proactive with your docs. We put our lives in their hands, trust them to do the right thing but sadly that is not always the case. In the last 6 years I have had to fire 2 docs....it is stressful enough dealing with cancer much less an egocentric incompetent doc.....glad you have found the cause, now you can fix it !!
