I would look up his videos on You Tube when I felt like a laugh to help me snap out of a depression or feeling down. Ironically, he couldn't help himself in ways he could help others. RIP Robin.

I'm going to call foul on all the the discussions of the why and what of suicide. Suicide is a forbidden topic, if everyone will take a moment to read the rules.
We can have pity, we can show dismay. We can not evaluate the cause, morality, or validity of an act we can't discuss.
I'm locking the thread for now.

Oh, and since we are all here, I would appreciate it if a few of you could pop over to the
new guy's thread
and say hello. He may be getting a little lonely.

Members have reached out to complain of my lock based on Rule 1.
I offer also Rule 3, in which we must support the decisions of others.
If this situation gets past Rule 1, then I must apply Rule 3. That one is harder, even for me. I must respect the decisions of others. Wow. I'm not going to state my opinions, as they do nothing to help Robin Williams, good or bad.
In either case, a rule in question has been broken.

I usually do not post on other forums, however I do want to chime in here.
As I posted on the Depression forum, Courage and strength and support is what prevents suicides. I know I have tried myself.
People with depression and anxiety need to talk about
their triggers and what they start doing or not doing when they sprial down. Friends, loved ones, co-workers need to be observant, if a person starts not acting like themselves for a few days, ask what is wrong. Be proactive. Better to have a person mad at you than gone.
Read about
suicide and its symptoms, people with cancer can get depressed and end up in the dark also. It is not a nice place, when we land there, we all want help. But feel like no one cares. Sometimes just saying hello and chatting with someone can save a life.
Put your phone down and say hello to some one today.
Peace and courage
Trina
