I'm rereading "The Empororer of All Maladies" and the author states that the only animals to develop PC are humans, dogs, and lions.
I find that amazing...
As PC is thought of mostly as an old man's disease, and for sure it will be ultra rare for a 20 or 30 year old to get it and your odds start greatly escalating each year past 50 or 60, how many non-human animals have the life span needed to get it? Don't know about
lions, but dogs are well under 20 years for average lifespan I think.
Plus, are we humans exposed to lifestyle/diet choices that would increase our PC chances? That is if anyone has conclusively shown what these diets/lifestyles are which are harmful? Like say maybe dairy? How many dogs or lions have a lot of dairy in their diet?
All in all, I guess I had not thought in terms of non-humans getting PC, but I guess they do?
Does sexual activity lower PC risk? I'm thinking the average human male has a lot more sex for a lot more years than the average family dog, or even lions. So maybe lack of sex is what does them in? Not to mention the stress of 1st having to(in the wild at least) fight/injure or kill many male rivals, often with the winner taking all of the cute gals. The stress of that lifestyle could def be a big negative on all manner of health issues for winner and loser. Plus, you might be the winner this year, but your gonna hate next year or the one after that most likely.
