Newly diagnosed husband G9 - doctors in Philly area?

GOOD EVENING...... I received IMRT radiation. My radiation oncologist was DR Beckelmen from the UNIV OF PENN. I originally wanted proton but that was ruled out. The DR. explained to me that it was all about the driver. I believe when I asked for statistics about leakage and bowel problems I was told about 5 per cent have problems. I liked my odds. 95 percent have no problems. However radiation keeps on giving even after the treatments have ended. So far I have had no problems. I In short it was not only the radiation oncologist but also the team behind him. I checked the credentials of all the doctors online. I even checked you tube to see if there was any talks or info posted that would help me with my decision. The technicians were also very courteous. Dr. BECKELMEN had given a talk that was posted and he was stating the exact same conversation as he had with me. The honesty was important to me. I was also impressed as to his background and credentials. Thank goodness for the internet. All of this information is available to us. I also found yogurt to be helpful. I also have learned the later in the day it gets the more a schedule has problems therefore I made mine early as I was comfortable with. If I was tired I took a nap and the felt good. I was also advised to eat two servings of yogurt per day. It served me well.

I have just finished 40 sessions of IMRT and am on Eligard HT. I went through the whole 8 weeks with no noticeable side effects. I was given about 80 Gys and had 85 "painted" on the suspected tumor area. Being consistent with a comfortably full bladder( they don't want it overly full as you will squirm on the table) and an empty rectum will give good chances for successful treatment. My RO said don't eat popcorn or nuts or any foods with skins and seeds. Carry a few Imodium in his pocket, just in case he is tempted to eat something he shouldn't. I did not need to use them at all.
My Gleason 8 and probable extensions led me to the IMRT decision. The Urologist/surgeon who placed the gold seed told me I had made the right decision.
