Hello. I'm new to this forum.
First off thank you to everyone who has contributed to this forum. It's scary facing this stuff, and other experiences are valuable.
I'm 41 and have had LARP September 9th.
I have read a number of entries regarding blood in urine, and haematoma but I'm trying to determine whether my bleeding patterns are 'normal' or should I be more concerned than I already am..
I developed a haematoma at the base of the bladder a few weeks after my operation. Distended abdomen, transferred pain in the back and ribs when inhaling deeply made me go to emergency where it was diagnosed on CT.
I went back to work a week later (and did a fair amount of walking that day + train ride home) and that night I bled very badly, looked almost pure and bright red, no urine. Shortly after that my pain subsided. My theory is that the blood from the tennis ball sized haematoma had leaked back into the urethra through suspected unhealed connection to bladder...
A week later the pain is back as is the tight stomach.
My pattern of blood in the urine: starts with darker colour rusty blood, then clear, and *then* a brighter red blood at the end. This is more often when I contract my pelvic floor muscles to finish up my urine flow.
I have stopped my Kegel exercises, and walking longer distances, and I have stopped taking viagra and using the penis pump (urologist recommended to rehabilitate) because I am concerned that these activities are causing more bleeding (though can't prove this). I have become more incontinent where I was beginning to get good control early on, and erections are non-existent.
Since my haematoma my abdominal muscles have tightened and, strangely, just before waking each morning they go into a massive contraction, hurting me and I suspect causing further damage internally. I don't know if this is relevant to the story or not. Today I noticed a lump under the skin on my abdomen.. no idea..
I am scared that I am not healing properly (and depression is starting to play a factor). This is affecting my wife and children also. I see my urologist in 5 weeks (he's well booked).
Is there anyone out there who has had any similar experiences who may be able to shed some light on this? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks
Gerard.
