A Few thoughts and a new blog post

8 years and 4 months ago I was given the bad news. This month when I saw my doctor he was down in the dumps because he had just given someone else the bad news. I sat and listened as he told the story and found it odd that I couldn't relate. This really bothered me. It was on my mind all week now and I think I have the answer.
Looking back, I remember how I felt the day I got the news. Cancer!!
We have all felt that emotion. I felt so ripped off. My prognosis was poor to say the least.
It has been over 8 years now and this disease has simply become a way of life. I am doing well. Physically I feel as good as I ever have. Each month my blood is drawn and my results are posted that evening. The daily pills and the tri-annual Lupron shots are taken in stride. I no longer have hot flashes. ( I guess I survived menopause.) I use trimix like a pro and 3 or 4 times a month I don't need it at all. I no longer worry about having cancer or my life ending prematurely. I have cancer and I may die sooner than later but I also may live a long life. I have not become callous, I have just settled into the new normal. It is not as I would like it to be it is simply what it is.
In 3 weeks I will play a benefit for a 6 year old with leukemia. My former supervisor also has it and a coworker just passed away of non Hodgkins lymphoma.
Prostate cancer sucks. I can't argue that point and I realize the damage it does to men and that it cuts life short in many of us. I have lost friends here at healing well. I still cheer at good news and hope for all who get bad news.
I am rambling.perhaps I have not figured it all out yet. I just know that when my life does end I will have lived a full and happy life. When that time comes I will go down the road I must travel

Todd, I think you do have it figured out. Non of us is guaranteed tomorrow. With a flash of Cancer it lets us know that we are not invincible. The lesson learned.

In my universe, the future is always in my hands, as I am held. I do not know the specifics of that future, as my body is not yet fully released into my universe tho it surrounds and permeates me fully. I care not so much of the plot because I have faith and trust in both sets of hands. In my universe the ending is always a joyful one. So joyful in fact that it begs a beginning. A caveat…. in my universe there is only one ending and one beginning, tho they are swapped in the fullness of time. In my universe as in Tim g's my character is forged by the decisions made in microcosms of time, bad ones trumped by good ones in an unending clash of wills always trumped by the greater will within my soul. This truth in my universe is just a different perspective of the truth of Tim's universe. Its not a counterpoint,...just another point of light falling… always falling, but always being held in perfect truth, goodness and love…… Aloha…Pono…Mana, Me!

An38, Hi thank you and tho I am retired ATC, its propensities of mind do stay with me. What you say is spot on, re communicative points, with the exception of unimaginative requirements. It is in fact the imagination of the ends that create, as the say in the trade, a " safe, orderly and expeditious flow of traffic". The priority being in that exact sequence. I suspect it has helped me in the, arguably, safe use of words post retirement, tho, thankfully, in my view, not always orderly or expeditious. My wife and I just returned from your time zone, tho only on the north island of New Zealand. My goodness , its beauty surpasses Hawaii, absolutely breathtaking. I didn't realize New Zealand was as far from Australia as it is. A thousand miles or so, aye?

Todd, I appreciate your sentiments...a living thing… a living thing… yeh, thats the ticket, thats the ticket. Your post diagnostic life is a living testament to the power of faith, hope and love. I always wondered why great healers were want to to have the healed stay silent about their healing. I understand now as the healing itself is the essence. Make no mistake about it, you are healed in the only way that ultimately matters. The source can never be ultimately explained in words, tho in this paradigm, words are all we have and they constantly obscure the word. That can only be experienced. I have thought it is not recognition but realization that breathes. This was recently re-enforced to me by the words of another flock the baghavid gita. Somewhat paraphrased. Always take action, but never take action to the fruit of the action. You never have Todd, know that!
