Unfortunately, my PSA has risen dramatically. It was 0.04 four months ago and now I just got the result.
It is now 1.8.

I have a phone conference with Dr. Lam scheduled for tomorrow.
It looks like I will be going to Mayo sooner rather than later for their relatively new C-11 Choline Scan. (best with PSA in the 2-5 range).

I was hoping to have more time before this was necessary.

This throws a lot of plans into disarray (if the scans find spots that should/could be radiated).

I will ask about the C11 scan in a separate thread

Also, I will probably be going back on HT when my PSA gets above 5 or so, which might be in 6 weeks. I was hoping for a longer vacation (8 months so far)

Mel, sorry to hear about that. Not what you were hoping for!

After Dr. Lam, and the C11 scan, would you go back to U of M for follow up?

I've met with the med onc there that you mentioned before and I liked her approach, in agreement with situation assessment and plans.

been sitting here trying to find some comforting words and encouragement and all I can come up with is: dude, that just sucks. seriously sucks.

Yup, nothing good to say when this cr@p happens. You'll qualify at PSA 2 for the Enzalutamide with or w/o Prostvac trial at NIH, if its still recruiting. JIm preferred the 3 months of Enzalutamide to the Lupron. I'll send you a Scholtz/Moyad article in case you haven't seen it)
Don't know about the C11Choline scan at Mayo, but the C11 Acetate at KU or in AZ is done in 4-6 hours. (waiting aroundfor the imaging agent mostly).
There's also the DCFBC scan that Jim will get results from later today and Sonny3 is approved for at NIH in December.

Thanks folks. 1.8 is not that high, but it was 0.04 four months ago. THAT'S what is worrisome.

I'll see what Lam says. As I said, I think he will suggest the C11 scan (Dr. Kwon at Mayo).

This is not unexpected, but the timing is.

Mel, sorry for the bad news about the uptick. At least you are seeing the very best doctors so can have some assurance that your future plan will be cutting edge and state of the art.

Please let us know what Dr. Lam says.

Mel, as the others have said, this really sucks.

I hope you found the email I sent you about the NIH scan trials to be helpful. I enjoyed talking with you today, even if the conversation was short on my end. Cracker Barrel is noisy and they were bringing my food. LOL

I think that having a bump no matter how small is hard to take especially when all the right things were done. I wish I had more words of encouragement but the very least I can say is "I think I know what you are going through."
